doune hillclimb June 2014 - brochure layout and design tweak

We have just assisted the regular Doune program creator Kenny Baird in converting his word files to a print ready format using Indesign. This is a 28 page program and requires editing at the last minute to confirm and adjust entries to the hillclimb. We tweaked some of the design features along the way, creating a template that we can use in the future to create this program for the 3 events that they put on each year.

marianne hazlewood - botanical paintings

In addition to graphic design I have been working on a submission of watercolour botanical paintings for the 2014 BISCOT competition for the last 5 years. On May 29th my six paintings were hung at Gardening Scotland 2014 along with the other entrants work.

The competition and exhibition is open to painters who apply with 4 works which must be assessed to gain entry and then a period of 7 years is allocated in which to paint 6 paintings for submission. Our exhibition then moved to the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh until June the 19th. These works are watercolour on Fabriano. All of the exhibitors work display botanical accuracy and the standards are extremely high. I was awarded a silver medal for my contribution.

I also created a logo and branding for this exhibition with colour tests from the palets of these paintings, and a website to display my pieces, and business cards.

I have also created a further site to display illustrations that I have created over the years that are not based in this botanical genre.

stacey - bentley logo and website design

Stacey was looking for a site with a content management system, so that she could update her galleries, shows and exhibitions information and other details as required.

We also came up with a logo during the design process, playing with the shape of the letter B and flipping it to reflect the forward curves on the S. We used the strong lapis blue from some of her enamel pieces and the dark grey that often appears in her oxidised silver work.
